The Gospel unfolds in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Every one of us, in our disobedience to God's commands, has sinned and fallen short of God’s standard of holiness, warranting punishment. However, in an extraordinary display of love and mercy, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to bear the weight of our sins on the cross. In this act, Jesus bore the righteous wrath of God on our behalf, completely settling the debt we owed.

 

Through repentance and faith, we can receive this gift of salvation, unattainable through any merit of our own, and are immediately declared righteous before God (Romans 8:1).
